I’ve been away from the game long enough that some of you may not know my involvement in the free online role playing game, Legend of the Green Dragon.  This weekend, June 4th  (6/4), a bunch of players are getting back on as a sort of reunion, and I thought it might be a good time to share the link with you in preparation.

It’s a fun text based game, that is energized a lot by players interacting with one another and taking on the role of the character they set up.  As the creator of the site, I took on the role of the king.  You should join us this weekend if you’ve never played! Pardon the political post.

United States of America.  My arse.  I am terrified about the Health Care Reform billed being passed this past Sunday.  I’m not terrified about the unknown long-term impacts or affects, or even the reconciliation package that is outstanding.  What I’m most scared about is that NOT A SINGLE REPUBLICAN voted for it.  There are 178 of them, and not a single one voted, "YES"???  That’s effing scary for quite a few reasons.

1. Can we honestly believe that every single district they represent didn’t want the bill?  Do we really assume that each one was overwhelming enough against it, that not a single representative teetered on voting "yes"?
2. If members of the Republican party are all going to vote the same way, can’t we just get rid of them and their salaries and get 1 person to represent the group?  Making this a Dems vs Reps opposition is not productive.  Get over yourselves and start thinking for yourself  THE PEOPLE YOU REPRESENT.

So they aren’t being true to their responsibility to the American people, they are wasting tax-payer money and time, and they are also creating a schism in the way our government works.  Our government was not set-up to be 2 entities deciding what is best for our country.  THAT’S EFFING WHY WE HAVE SO MANY OF YOU SUITS IN WASHINGTON.  If all they do is echo the sentiments of everyone else in their cute little party, then let’s get some consolidating going and get rid of everyone without a brain of their own and save some money and time listening to them ramble on and on.

Having agendas based on parties is like having big businesses run the government.  I can’t think of any argument in favor of that happening.  Each representative loses their individuality and becomes part of the group think machine.  They are no longer defending the views and rights of the people who elected them.  

And now we’re talking about creating new political parties???  These things are popping up like fraternities.

i saw this random fact…

Certainly someone had to find out that there were similarities between the audio and video of the two, so who was that person? What were they doing? …what were they SMOKING? if it truly was unplanned, certainly there must be some sort of documented report of the first time this was attempted.



back to the Bible, I know people spend so much time reading the Bible and looking for patterns. Can we draw any conclusions from this rarity? Does it mean the translation has “easter eggs” placed their for some humor or self-satisfaction of the translator? do we then assume that the historical value and credit of translations have been comprimised?

wow, a lot to update i guess. I can’t remember the last time i made an update, which is actually a nice intro to the next topic…
This past weekend, my family and I went up to Nemacolin to do some snowboarding, spa stuff, and just hang out. It was a great time. Saturday, Mike, Keren, Deirdre, and I went snowboarding. Mike and I hadn’t gone for a few years, and Keren and Deirdre have never gone aside from a few times down the hills at my mom’s house on my snowboard. Taken into account that the entire slope was a solid piece of ice, we were all doing pretty well. Close to when we were going to call it a day, Keren and Deirdre went to turn in their equipment and Mike and I were going to race one last time. I don’t anything of that race. I remember about a second’s worth of standing at the bottom of the slope and watching a snowmobile towing a stretcher sled behind it. I vaguely remember the lift guy saying something to me about not having my board on my feet, and I just told him i was done after i got back up to the top. Halfway up the lift, I “came to” and was totally freaked out. I felt like i was waking up in a dream. I remembered watching keren and deirdre snowboard, and I knew mike was somewhere behind me, but i had no idea how i got there, or where i was, or what the date was. I started trying to figure out what happened or what i could remember. I couldn’t remember the date, so i looked at my watch. I wanted to say i was at seven springs, but i kept thinking about it and remembered I was at nemacolin. I got off the lift and sat on a bench by the lodge. I knew mike should be coming soon, and when he came over to me i said, “Mike, we have a problem, I don’t remember how i got here.” Keren and Deirdre came over sometime during that and i was like nearly in tears because i was so scared. So after all is said and done, I must have fell somewhere and hit my head on the ice. Mike said he passed me on his way down, and i was sitting down adjusting my bindings. he said shortly after he got to the bottom of the hill, some other kid on skis wiped out hard near the bottom of the slope. He ran to the lift booth to tell them to call for a paramedic, then he went to go treat the kid for shock. I guess sometime during that I must have somehow made my way down the hill, and mike said i was even responsive when he was telling me about the kid, and that his leg looked like it was broken. So, what happened to me will remain a mystery. I don’t remember much until we got back into the hotel room. Even then, i was a little out of it for the rest of the night. I should have gone to the EMT at the slopes, but I wasn’t lucid enough to make that decision. The whole night, and sunday, I was constantly testing myself to see what I remembered of what just happened. I am not sure if i am just more aware of what I remember now, or if i really do have some other brain damage. I thought I was fine yesterday (sunday), minus a terrible headache when i woke up and an entire body full of aches and pains. The paranoia of not remembering anything is still slowly fading, although, this morning, I was an hour early for work. I don’t know if that is a sign of true memory problems or just my own incoherence in the morning to tell what time it was compared to what time i needed to be at work. So, I’m still a little scared, but I think i’m alright.
This past tuesday, the 13th, marks one years since my dad passed away. Things with the estate are still up in the air. Emotions still wild between us and Robbie and my uncle. Lots of issues with finances, lawyers, creditors, contractors, etc.
so besides that, done with school this semester, not sure how i did yet, hoping for 2 As. My last day of work is wednesday, then i am off until the second, granted I don’t get screwed covering for new years. Still got some major Christmas shopping to do.
I saw King Kong last friday, and i was a major skeptic leading up to it, but I was pleasantly surprised. It was very well done. Everyone kept saying, “oh, peter jackson this, and peter jackson that” and i was like, yeah, he did lord of the rings, which was fabulous, but you know what he did before that? Meet the Feebles. talk about a resume builder. I have such a distaste for pop-culture.

pfff. friday the 13th. Sometimes i just wonder why people are the way they are. so it is friday the 13th, and because there was a movie about that date i am supposed to go around reminding people what today’s date is??? I just don’t get it. but i never really got why 2-liter pop bottles are shaped that way either. [shrug]

so i just got back from the poetry reading. I made a shameless plug (i am the king of shameless plugs) for my site I read “A Will”, “Return”, “Tears of Heaven”, and “A Son’s Shadow of a Father”. For that one, I had a friend come up and read through the red lettering, as i also read through the black lettering. Totally created the effect I was looking to achieve. I saw some people jerk their heads back and open their eyes wider when we both started reading the 2nd stanza together. Good times, good times. i was so pumped to do the readings tonight, that i wrote 2 new poems, “Silly Me” and “Thanks”. I also thought about puting up some of the others i have written in the past, but i read through them again, and there is no way i can put those up:) I also noticed that a lot of the poems i have up have gramatical errors, how embarrassing. I need to fix that, and maybe even add a little copyright on the bottom of each one. eh, i don’t feel like it While i am talking about writing though, my russian fairy tales class has an extra credit assignment to write a tale in russian fairy tale style. I am all about that. I want to get more of a grip of the style though, because i realize that is what they are going to be looking for.

Tomorrow is Valentine’s day. [cringe] I hate commercial holidays. I hate being expected to be romantic. I think 99.9% of being romantic is being sporatic and surprising. Valentines completely ruins that. But i am going to go play basketball with some of the guys from cornerstone, and hopefully that will turn into a weekly adventure/opportunity for physical activity. Then working on the cornerstone database. We’ll see what the rest of the night has to offer.

Uncle Jay and Aunt Leslie are in for a bit, gunna hang out with them over the weekend, and hopefully uncle kenny and the family will give me a call too. Trying to catch Return of the King with bob tomaro, and maybe stop by Andy’s for a party. we will see how things go.

i got an email from my old advisor, Carlton, saying that he noticed i hadn’t done too well this semester, and wanted to know if i wanted to set up an appt. with him. I did. He rocks, my CS advisor blows hard, and i am going to change my major. Carlton says business isnt a good idea for me, since credits i have wont count for my major in business. So right now, i am thinking Philosophy, Communications, or some sort of English. probably in that order too.

i have been working my butt of over break. i should get a nice paycheck come end of january. Pitt sucks becuase we get paid once a month, at the end of the month, for the previous month. but oh well.

i have been working with Sil to get the site fully functional, and i think it is coming around. I just learned that the shoutbox was still being pulled from my server, and i am at work, and i cant change that from here, but it will be back later on. Still havent figured out the recent movies block. Kim Jenko pointed out that the high scores weren’t working, but those are fixed now, and if you see anything else buggy, let me know!
