Personal Update

that girl is poison

29 June, 2005 (06:02) | Personal Update

ugh, kinda in a bad mood. I officially hate my public speaking class. It’s way too intense and the guidlines are to strict. My incompetence doesn’t help much with that either.

I’ve got poison ivy from working at the estate this weekend too. kinda draining. We did make good progress on the yard though, mike was going with a chainsaw cuz i am too much of a pansy to trust myself with one. There is still an unfathomable amount of work to do though.

speaking of poison ivy, my heart was broken yesterday when i found out Alicia Silverstone got married last week to some rocker. How cliche. So leanne and Alicia are off the list, now i’m down to mandy moore. She’s been out of the spotlight for a while, so i might be able to use that to my advantage. I might try and get her an address and send her a nice letter…and a vile of my blood…

no new word on the house at all. waiting games suck. Might have an interview for the London job this week as well. 2 more weeks of classes. and 3 weeks until my 2 week vacation to canada and around the east coast. fun fun fun.

Thoughts & Ideas

earth layers and erosion

17 June, 2005 (08:59) | Thoughts & Ideas

Here’s something I am confused on, maybe someone can shed some light on the subject. Erosion occurs from wind and water slowly wearing off the surface of rocks. Since there is obviously more wind/water resistance on some formations, they would see a faster rate of erosion, which would, over time, end up leveling out the formation into the surrounding terrain. Are we to assume that eventually, after thousands of years, that the world will end up being pretty much flat and even? And rock formations are not being formed currently, right? I mean, you don’t drive down a dessert road and say, “hey, there’s a new plateau!” So, given the proposed earth age by the evolutionists, how extreme face of the earth must have been to have eroded to the still diverse landscapes we see today.

with erosion, layers of the earth’s crust are being revealed. How are these layers created? Scientists associate each layer older and older as the layers go deeper. does that mean that the earth was smaller before, and with the addtion of these layers, it’s gotten thicker? I would think, with erosion, we’d actually see the layers going away.

Take the Grand Canyon. I guess at one time, it was just a river even with the land. and it just eroded the earth away, carrying the rock and soil out to the mouth. So does that mean the grand canyon is getting worse and worse? will the sides cave in eventually?

Thoughts & Ideas

the past’s weather.

1 June, 2005 (10:30) | Thoughts & Ideas

you should be able to look at weather archives. Like, there was a storm down in houston a few hours ago, and i looked at the images and the storm took up half the state, it was impressive. so a few hours later i wanted to show my friend, and i couldn’t because the images were all current.

maybe it would be that useful, but sometimes people would use it. if you came back from vacation and forgot what the weather was on a tuesday to figure out which day you went to disneyworld…or if someone you knew was flying out of a city, and you wanted to see what the weather was like when they took off because their flight was late…or someone got in a hit and run and got caught a month later, and the driver said it was raining, so you would have to verify it. I dunno, just trying to think of applications. I think there should atleast be SOME data for the previous weather.

Personal Update

speed of life

25 May, 2005 (05:37) | Personal Update

So one of those houses that i was looking at has water damage, and the bank might foreclose on it, which means I could get it on the cheap. I have a realtor looking into it for me. I’m in the mood for a life altering decision. Jordan (who is probably reading this) freaked out when i mentioned the house since he moves in my apartment this saturday, but i told him if i get the house, he’d definitely still have a place, possibly cheaper, possibly better, and possibly with a garage. My lease is up in august, so if i got it that would give me just about enough time to fix up so i can move in. So dealing with that has taken up a lot of time this week, trying to get it before it forecloses. I was supposed to see it monday night, but the realtor completely dropped the ball and couldnt find the keys, and called me back at 10:30 at night to tell me. so i got my own realtor.

school started last night too, and it looks like i am going to be busy. public speaking class tuesdays from 5:30-7:30, speech every week, outline for the speeches due every friday, and 2 papers in the class. I’m also in an online class about literature, so lots of reading to do. they are both only 8 week courses, so it’s going to be a lot of work in a short time. so that’ll keep me away from life for a while.

a week after classes are done, it’s time to go to canada for a week! with the whole family. should be sweet. i took the week after off work as well, and i plan to cruise the east coast stopping in DC, williamsburg, wilmington, and charlotte. should be a nice road trip. gotta survive until then. rock on and cross your fingers for me about this house.

Personal Update

school infinitum

Well, I got into Robert Morris, classes start next tuesday. Still gotta register though, i’ll do that tomorrow. Hopefully i’ll be able to do well and speed this up and finish by end of next summer.

As far as work goes, they moved one guy on my shift to the earlier shift, and the guy he switched with is supposed to be leaving soon, and there are not plans to replace him. With him and another worker out this week, it’s been suckage at work. Too busy to do anything productive in the personal realm, and they blocked sixf00t4.com from the corporate firewall, so i don’t work on the game either. I feel a sense of fear and yet, completion for that. The site keeps me up when i am tired though, keeps my mind active, so it’s their loss. still got joshuadhall.com though 😉

I’ve also had a strong urge to dive into the realestate market. Here are a list of the houses around me. all are within 5 blocks from my apartment. i’m looking at 5, 6, or 7. there’s also another one not on there that i like. I figure, if i got 2 other people to move in, and charge them rent, i could almost be making money even with the loan. My lease is up in august, so i’ll wait to see how things go.

and as far as the estate, looks like Robbie is just about out. Rumors of some foreign trip with her girls on my dad’s life insurance money too. As far as i can tell, no financial support has been given to the estate, us, or my grandmother. And that is all i want to say on that matter.

On the bright side of the estate though, a local cop that was friends with my dad said that the township may be interested in helping out with the park. putting in a track and cutting the grass, the whole jazz. i almost cried when i heard that. that is EXACTLY what we want. once we get to the point of dealing with that, i want to do all i can to make that work out.
