Gotta gotta get up to get down

10 June, 2010 (12:00) | House Ideas

Without going into the dream that inspired it, I want to have a basement or at least a low level room/area that is only accessible by a staircase that is on a third or second story.  The ides is to have a normal stairwell where staircases are stacked on top of each other, but it skips a floor, and then the stairs go the opposite direction on that lower level.  I’ll probably need to mock up a 3D model or something if you can’t understand that.  That area would come in handy if you were being invaded by robbers, they’d expect the basement to only be accessible by the 1st floor, or by going down, but you have to go up to go down…

Pittsburgh

She’s so high

5 June, 2010 (12:00) | Pittsburgh

Check out this great Gigapan of Pittsburgh taken recently from the top of the USS Steel building  (the tallest building in the city).  It has some awesome views from it, as well as confirming that if I had a way onto my roof, like a roof deck, (or tore down the houses behind me), I could see the USS Steel building.

Geeked Out

Man on the street

29 May, 2010 (12:00) | Geeked Out

I’ve taken a few pictures of the sti(c)kman.  I first saw him in Philly with Kallie.  Then down in DC, and I think I saw him somewhere in pittsburgh too.

I recently came across a similar work of graffiti art called the "Toynbee tiles".  I vaguely remember seeing something on the street at the corner of Smithfield street and Forbes Avenue, but I never paid much attention to it.  Apparently the tiles are in a lot of major cities, and speculative roots are in philly.  It’s this weird license-plate sized box that makes reference to toynebee‘s idea about striving towards the future and always having goals that are almost impossible.  There’s also something in there about colonizing Jupiter like the movie 2001 space odyssey.

Life Long Goals

Rock n Roll Professional

27 May, 2010 (12:00) | Life Long Goals

I want to be a LEGO certified professional.  To think that there are less than 12 in the world, makes that a very daunting task.  There are not clear career paths, you just have to "make it" and be affiliated with LEGO.  I’m not even sure of the benefits beyond bragging rights.  At the very least, I’ll try to become a LEGO ambassador.
