Memories

let the rain, fall down on me.

25 September, 2008 (16:40) | Memories

I’ll be the first to say I didn’t have much of a childhood.  When I should have been loud and curious, I was getting yelled at for talking while Daddy was working.  When I should have been out exploring the woods, I was packing my bags for the custody schedule change.  When I should have been wrestling with my brother, I was in the car riding to his rehab appointments.  So it’s not that I had a terrible childhood, it’s just that I had to grow up too fast and there wasn’t much time left to be a child.  Memories are few and far between, but the ones that stick out are not only a reminiscent form for me now, but they were a reflective time for me then.  Some of my fondest memories are just watching the people around me have a good time.  When we were all kids, we used to go over my grandma Matthew’s house and play Nintendo upstairs.  Brady was the oldest and the best at games.  Micah was the next best.  I, honestly, just enjoyed watching them play.  I can even remember saying I wanted to skip my turn so that Brady could play.

I can also remember times at my dad’s house when Uncle Kenny and Dean Roberts were over.  Those guys were just big kids together, and really, I think they still are, they just pretend to be grown ups.  One specific day I remember, it was pouring rain outside.  I can’t remember what we were doing outside, I want to say working on the house, but as soon as it started raining, we all went inside.  A few minutes later, we notice that Uncle Kenny and Dean are outside playing in the rain.  there was a downspout missing, and it was basically a waterfall.  We all went out to play too.  No cares, just general horseplay, holding others under the waterfall, splashing around, completely oblivious to the lightning around.  These are the memories I cherish.

Top 10

And I run, I run sofa away.

There are more than 10, but some of them I wasn’t too impressed with.  I could definitely see myself on/in one of these crazy couches.  If there were a true market for artistic furniture, that would be my dream job.  I love to design stuff.

Life Long Goals

Stop the train, I want to get off

21 September, 2008 (01:02) | Life Long Goals

I’ve always wanted to just hitch a ride on a train.  The real adventurist in me wants to pack a backpack and just jump on and get off whenever i feel like it.  I’ve seen "Into the Wild" though, and I surely do not want to run into one of those situations where I get the crap beaten out of me by a conductor with a crowbar.  I just want a way to wind up in a random location, not knowing where the heck I am, and that’s the only way I can think of.  Every other way involves seeing road signs or landing in an airport.  I guess a hot air balloon my achieve what I desire, but you can’t really walk away from a hot air balloon easily…

Wax Poetic

Don’t look back in anger

19 September, 2008 (14:26) | Wax Poetic

This is a creative writing assignment from Dawn

I never wanted it to end like this.  It’s cold outside as I put on my coat and walk away from us, from you, from the place I never wanted to leave.  My chin is up though, because I know the revolutions we talked about in your bed were never going to march on the streets.  They’ll stay there, neatly wrapped and placed on the shelf next to your incense and books you never have time to read.  Maybe it’s my fault for falling for your mind and your passion, but I’d like to blame you for not being smart enough to realize the potential you possess.  The thoughtful riot i saw in you, through the eye of my mind, was just a better place to play than the reality of our separate lives.  I loved you, and all I hold dear, I learned from you.  Though I can’t promise I’ll never look back, I can promise you it will never be in anger.

kitty at my foot and I want to touch it

1.  What’s the cutest of the small, furry animals?

 – The Slow Loris is the cutest thing I’ve ever seen in my life.  EVAR.  They move so slowly and they’re so scared and small.

2.  What predator impresses you the most?

 – The Angler fish.  Those things are nuts.

3.  After which animal will you name your professional sports team?

 – That’s a good question that I keep putting off.  I know I am going to have to answer it soon enough, but I just haven’t had the time to devote the thought to it recently.  I’m going to have to come back to it, but for now, I’ll say the hounds because i’d want something to reflect a team.

4.  What’s an unusual animal that you know a little something about?

 – The liger, of course.  It’s not just something in Napoleon Dynamite.  These things are real.  The biggest cats in the world and they came from forcing a lion to impregnate a tiger.

5.  Your high school probably had some kind of mascot or symbol, but based on your memories of it, what animal should REALLY have been the emblem?

– We were the trojans.  As for what animal we should have been…nothing migratory, that’s for sure, nothing exciting…we’ll go with the endangered pandas.
