Thoughts & Ideas

i just woke up and thought about these right away. Am i insane?

Are people who lose limbs more prone to high blood pressure?  I would think their heart would be used to pumping a certain amount of blood, and taking a whole arm or leg out of the “loop” would definitely decrease its workload.  Or perhaps they are more energetic because their heart is pumping faster and harder?   does that mean they are also in better shape?

i find it hard to take the english language serious.  I know there are activist groups out there to change the spelling and pronounciations of words, and i am thinking about joining.  seriously.  i always find myself mispronouncing cinammon.  I end up saying synonym.  Ironic, isn’t it?

Personal Update

weekend

20 October, 2004 (22:58) | Personal Update

went do winterthur, delaware to hang out with serah this weekend.  good times were had by all.  we went to philly saturday, i bought a new guitar, a yamaha apx5a, and that was pretty much it saturday. sunday we took tours of winterthur itself.  pretty crazy place.  170 rooms, 7 floors, and lots of old furniture.  i uploaded lots of pictures in the gallery.

other than that, just trying to stay afloat with crap i have to do, while trying to stay well rested.  it’s tough.  especially when i am addicted to the internet.  i was on this site where you battle of letters of the alphabet with other users for well over a half hour.  I am so lame. http://www.flashcomguru.com/apps/letters/

Ramblings

as the city sleeps

19 October, 2004 (06:35) | Ramblings

As I leave for work in the mornings at 3:45 am, I notice that nothing else is going on.  Even the weather seems to be at rest.  The occasional garbage truck is about the extent of life that i run across.  As i park my car a half mile down the street and begin to walk the rest of the way, i walk by a woman on her smoke break.  puffing along in her over-sized jacket, you know she would love to be at home wrapped in a blanket, knees to her chest.  Or is that just me?  Anyway, the weather seems to be asleep too.  No wind, no rain, and if there is rain, it’s just a light misting, as if the weather crew is just understaffed on the graveyard shift.  and 8 hours later when i leave my 8th floor cavern, the city is transmogrified.  Someone switched on the lights to the sky, turned the knob to the magnetic car track of the city streets, and openned the door to the maze of the city side walks that men in suits traverse throughout their day with a destination in mind, but never really sure how to get there.  I haven’t found anyone i can set my watch to yet though.  That’s what i want to see.  I want to bump into “the parking his car guy” or the “girl who always has an umbrella.”  I have yet to have a repeating face, or atleast a face that stained the memory cells of my brain.  I must admit, I am almost dissappointed.  I want the conveyor belt city.  The well oiled machine, transporting the masses over the cross walk.  Red light.  Green light.  Yield.  No turn on red.  But there are jaywalkers out there.  And those jaywalkers are messing with my life.

Personal Update

all work and no play makes Josh a dull boy

21 September, 2004 (06:45) | Personal Update

been a while since i posted a personal update.  jobs still going.  some days are easy, some days its rough getting out of bed at 3 am.  If i can’t get used to getting up in the middle of night, perhaps i can get used to having some good days and some bad days.

hmm, since last i posted, i went to cleveland, had a sweet time.  rock and roll hall of fame, hard rock, great hotel, nice city, crappy crappy zoo.  the metro parks zoo is so terribly laid out.  and there are like 2 animals there.  and there is a bridge that is losing concrete and you can see the steel reebar.  it’s ghetto.

still no guitar.  leaning towards not getting that HPL (cheap-nonwood) guitar.  I do want to get a martin though.  so either i have to comprimise what i want out of a guitar, the brand name, or my wallet.  all three are very unlikely to bend easily.

going down to DC this weekend for Brady’s wedding.  should be an interesting time.  I’ll be sure to get release forms from everyone so that i can post pictures online. 🙂  it’s either live forever through photographs, or get made into a gem when ever you die.
