whether to weather.

26 April, 2005 (09:40) | Ramblings

just saw this link today, and i have to say, i am outraged, almost to the point to register to vote. To sum it up, Rick Santorum (Pa) is pushing for a billthat will stop the -government funded- National Weather Service from releasing free information to the public, because, get this, it is preventing companies like Accuweather from making money. That’s the bottom line, and it’s outrageous. Three things instantly come to mind.
1. You want to know if a tornado is coming? How much money do you have?
2. I’m paying for the information already in taxes, why can’t i know about it?
3. Last time i checked, if a company wasn’t making money, it was their own fault, and maybe they need to reasses their market.

I mean, really. It’s like Roger and Ebert saying to shut down yahoo and imdb.com because people aren’t watching their show. It’s like the US telling Canada to stop giving away free health care because US citizens are whining. What the crap. I hate corporate america. and to have a government representative, let alone from my state, push this bill, makes me hate the government even more for not thinking about the people they are supposed to represent, and for giving into corporate america, because he’s probably getting an incentive. to quote Jimmie Haha, of Jimmie’s Chicken Shack, “It’s just politics, polidicks, politricks, and i’m no politician.” i just don’t know how people are able to place a price on information like this. Honesty, philanthropy, and selflessness are rarities…too bad you can’t sell those too.

Wow, that makes me sad. Don’t piss and moan if you aren’t part of the system, even if participation seems futile, if every dumbass that complains voted, there would actually be things accomplished.

that’s the problem, i am part of the system. If i could be out of the system, i would be.

the problem is too many people vote already. there are people out there that just vote democrat or just vote republican because they say they are a democratic or becuase they are a republican. Sheep. They don’t care, or even know who the best candidate is. And with the electoral college, it’s a joke anyway. I don’t vote, because I have no confidence in who is running because i don’t know them. Failed promises, lies, wars, taxes, you never know what you’re going to get. Basically, to quote Waking Life, “do you want the puppet on the left or the puppet on the right?”

sixy poo, your not voting is not changing the decisions of people who do vote, against the way you want them to, presumably. if you think they’re doing something wrong, you need to do what you think is right and do your best to make them know that they are wrong. if you think it’s that important.

    which it is.

it is a democracy, you know, and everyone should vote. not voting is not even close to becoming a solution.

my best is not in voting, my best is presenting the information to others who do vote. That is how i feel i get my message across better. actively getting others to think about it. but you’re right, i am a scrotumless citizen if i don’t vote, you have convinced me. now, what do i have to do to vote?

your philosophy is to sway other people into voting for something which you don’t have the energy to participate in?

not at all. It certainly is not that i am too lazy or that i dont have enough energy too. I detest to drone like act. I feel it is a joke, as i said, especially with the electoral college.
and look at the statistics for the last presidential election, nearly all large cities voted Kerry by far. it’s all the boonies and sparse towns that voted for bush. what does that tell you? It tells me, that all the people that are worried about ecomics, and that keep this country funded, wanted bush out.
